Renovation of historic power plant into green building, serves as beloit college student union.

Angus-Young teamed up with Studio Gang Architects to prepare concepts, design, and engineer the renovation of the existing Alliant Blackhawk Generating Station building for Beloit College. The facility was developed into a high quality and exciting multi-level Student Activity and Recreation Center. The building includes a 25 yard competition swimming pool, fieldhouse for field sport practices, student and faculty wellness center, fitness center with 175m running track, conference center, 150 seat Lecture/movie theater room, student lounges, coffee shop, and multiple green roofs all tied together with a 55 foot tall atrium where modern stairways and balconies meet the existing industrial structure. The building is connected to the campus with a pedestrian bridge that crosses Riverside Drive.
